Hotel Pousada Classica Accommodation in Ouro Preto, Brasil

Seeking to unite the charm of a colonial mansion of the century. 18th century modernity, the Classic Inn is a complete example of the sum of these two values: the New and the Old. The idea of ​​setting up a hostel in the most beautiful street of Ouro Preto was so that people could feel how unique this city is. Staying at the Classic Inn means not only visiting Ouro Preto, but “being” in Ouro Preto. The church bells, the baroque atmosphere coming through the windows, the bucolic view of the falling night… The project was developed seeking to preserve as much as possible the original essence of the townhouse. Originally, in the houses of old Vila Rica, the wealthiest families lived. They used the room (s) by the street on the 1st floor as a commercial point and had their residence upstairs and back. Access to the residence was through a side corridor that ran the length of the house leading to the backyard. In those yards were the slaves and the animals. Based on this, the architect preserved the winding corridors as access to the hostel's apartments, left the reception in front of the house, with high ceilings, lining and wooden floor, creating a large area of ​​interaction between the street and the people who stand by. reading there, living the city. The façade was completely restored using materials and construction techniques of the time (wood walls and stacked stone). This game of contrasts between the old and the new reflects the richness that Ouro Preto inspires.
